Privacy Policy
Effective September 17, 2026.
This policy explains what Exodus Business Management Group collects through myebmg.com, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it. Information you give us inside a professional engagement is also covered by the confidentiality obligations in your engagement agreement and by the rules that govern our profession.
What we collect
What you send us. When you submit an inquiry, request a consultation or subscribe to the newsletter, we receive what you type: your name, your email address, and whatever you tell us about your situation. Please do not send Social Security numbers, account numbers or tax documents through a web form. We will tell you how to send those securely once we are working together.
What the server records. Like most websites, ours logs the address of the device requesting a page, the page requested, the time, and the browser used. These logs exist to keep the site running and secure.
Cookies and analytics. The site uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, and analytics that tell us which pages are read. Analytics tells us about pages, not about people we can identify by name.
What we do not collect here
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not build profiles of you for marketing, and we do not use what a client tells us in an engagement for any purpose other than that engagement.
Why we hold it
To answer you. To send the newsletter you asked for. To run and secure the site. To meet the record keeping obligations that apply to a tax and advisory practice.
Who else sees it
We use service providers to run the business: website hosting, email delivery, analytics, scheduling, secure document exchange and practice software. They may process information on our behalf, under contract, only to provide their service to us.
We disclose information outside that where the law requires it, where it is needed to establish or defend a legal claim, or where you ask us to send it to someone.
How long we keep it
Inquiries that do not become engagements are kept while they are useful and then deleted. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Records connected to a professional engagement are retained for the period required by the rules that apply to that work, which is longer than we would otherwise keep anything.
Your choices
Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link and it works immediately. You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Where a record is one we are required to retain, we will tell you that rather than quietly keep it.
If you are in California
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, to request deletion, to request correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. To make a request, email us and we will verify who you are before we act, because the point of verification is to keep someone else from making the request for you.
Children
This site is meant for adults running businesses. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect what we hold, including encryption in transit and access limited to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, which is why we ask you not to send sensitive documents through a web form.
Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top, and for material changes we will post a notice on the site.
